Last day of Magyar Nemzet newspaper

On April 10, 2018, two days after the parliamentary elections, the final issue of the 80-year-old political daily newspaper Magyar Nemzet was published. It was on this Tuesday that the newspaper's staff were informed that it was the end. This is how the last issue, known among the staff as the "eightieth," was made: initial shock gave way to alternating bouts of tearful merriment and quiet sorrow. In that moment and place, a true community was born, even if at first glance it seemed that nothing was left but an emptying editorial office and the oppressive sight of a copy left beside a printing press.
